Royal Jungle Trail - 16 days 15 nights itinerary

Hosted By Kanker Palace

Day 1 - When the Guests arrive in Raipur they will be transferred to Keonchi (Amarkantak). In the evening they will be taken on a nature walk around the sāl jungles in the valley. There will be some musical entertainment before dinner.
     
Day 2 - Early in the morning the guests can return for a safari to these virgin sāl forest where there are chances of spotting cheetal, wild boar, leopard, bison and a variety of birds, not to forget the beautiful and bright giant squirrels.

A sumptuous breakfast after the safari would be ideal. Now one has ample time to relax in the serene atmosphere of the Sal Valley Resort.

In the evening our Guests would drive to Mandwarani, the confluence of the rivers Narmada and Son, returning to the resort for dinner.

     
Day 3 - Early morning the guests can drive to Bhanwartank Lake, an ideal spot for bird watching and angling.
While breakfast would be served at the lake, lunch will be had at the resort. And after a siesta they could visit the Herbal Medicinal Centre of the Forest Department nearby. Dinner will be taken at the resort.

Day 4 - After breakfast our Guests will start for Kanker Palace, Kanker. They could either carry a picnic lunch or stop over for lunch at a hotel in Raipur. They will be received at Kanker Palace with a traditional welcome. Once refreshed, the Guests will be entertained by Chhattisgarhi folk musicians over beverages and pre-dinner snacks. Members of the Royal Family will join them to share their insights into the life of the region.

     
Day 5 - After breakfast the guests will visit the village of the Deer-Horn Muria Tribe and have glimpse of the Gotul System. Here one could enjoy the wonderful village food with some local tardy and be Guests to one of them.

Day 6 - After a leisurely breakfast the Guest could enjoy the beautiful surrounding of the Palace. One could read, paint or just relaxed. Later they could opt for secluded boat ride about an hours drive from the Palace and return back. (If a couple- one could opt to stay over night at one of the Family's Farm house in a village as a hide-away from the maddening crowd of the town and savor a normal village life with opportunities of boating and fishing).

     
Day 7 - After breakfast the guests will leave for Jagdalpur, the largest town and nerve center of Bastar. Lunch would be packed and can be had in our secret spot in the jungle.

Though the three hour long journey will itself be a treasure-trove of vignettes from Tribal life, they will make a short detour midway to visit Tribal craft communities of Kondagaon. (Bell Metal, Wrought Iron and Terracotta) They could visit the Tribal Market of Narayanpur famous all over world for its beautiful colour, vigour and cockfight. (only if it is a Sunday.) Boarding and lodging at Jagdalpur will be arranged at Bastar Jungle Camp.

Day 8 - Our Guests would start exploring this Tribal Land by visiting the famous Bison-Horn Maria Tribe Known for their weaving, dance and hospitality. later they could visit the rich forest of Kanger Valley National Park and its Attractions (which include the Kailash caves OR gushing cataracts of Tirathgarh). On their way back one could catch a glimpse of a weekly Haat. (depending on the time).

     
Day 9 - On this day the Guests could opt for a remote and unspoilt Tribal Haat Or visit Chitrakote waterfalls, one of the country's largest or Barsur , home to the ruins of the 5th century Nagavansh Temples.

Day 10 - The Guests could spend the first half of the day exploring the capital of Bastar, one of India's largest and most exotic erstwhile princely states. A visit to the Palace, Anthropological Museum and some craft centers will be the attraction of the day. After Lunch at a hotel one could opt for another Haat.

Day 11 - After visiting the Famous Maria tribe known for their dance the Guests will return back to Kanker Palace, Kanker visiting some craft centers.

Day 13 - After a leisurely breakfast the Guests would start for Chhuikhadan Palace, another beautiful and enchanting Palace where one can relaxed and have a feel the old times ,interact with family members of the erstwhile rulers of Chhuikhadan and get absorbed in its history.

Day 14 - Explore around. Farewell dinner hosted by the family.

Day 15 - Leave for the air port as per flight schedule and convenience.
